How to use it
- Search your address (or tap "My location" if you are at home). The map zooms right in.
- Choose the shape: rectangular (three taps), round (centre and edge) or freeform (one tap on each corner and along the curves).
- Adjust the points by dragging them until they follow the water edge, not the coping.
- Enter the depth of the shallow and the deep end: the photo cannot see it.
Where the photo comes from
It is the orthophoto of Spain’s National Aerial Orthophotography Plan (PNOA), by the National Geographic Institute: photos taken from aircraft and corrected so distances are true, with a detail of 15 to 25 cm per pixel. That is why you can measure on it. It is renewed every few years, so a brand-new pool may not show yet.
How accurate is it?
If you trace the water edge carefully, the area is usually within about 5 %. Depth changes the volume the most: an 8 × 4 m pool with 1.0 and 1.8 m holds about 45 m³, and with 1.2 and 2.0 m about 51. If you do not know it, measure the shallow and deep ends with a pole, or ask us.
Frequently asked questions
How big is a typical home pool?
In southern Madrid most are between 6 × 3 and 10 × 5 metres, that is 25 to 70 m³ depending on depth. With this tool you will know yours in a minute.
My pool does not show on the photo. What can I do?
The aerial photo is renewed every few years: a very recent pool may not appear. In that case use the volume calculator with tape measurements.
Can I use it to get a quote?
Yes, as a starting point: the WhatsApp button sends us the surface and volume. We take the final measurement on site.
